Artissimo began in 2002 when a group of 18 women artists held an all-female art show at the Canton Museum of Art.  Originally titled “Art for Women’s Sake”, the show was warmly received by the local community and produced a $750 scholarship awarded to a female art student.  This began a tradition of awarding scholarships to deserving young art students, which has continued each year.  In 2006 Art for Women’s Sake joined forces with the Canton Artists League, renamed the annual art show Artissimo and welcomed the participation of male artists.  Artissimo is now an independent fine art exhibit and sale, and has grown to include forty artists.  Our 2010 goal is to give $2,000 in scholarships.  Your support of this beloved show promotes art in Northeast Ohio and continues to encourage young artists.
